Search engine optimization (SEO), a subset of search engine marketing, is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" ("organic" or " algorithmic " ) search results. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results, or the higher it "ranks," the more searchers will visit that site. SEO consultants can also target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines. As a marketing strategy for increasing a site's relevancy, SEO considers how search algorithms work and what people search for. SEO efforts may involve a site's coding, presentation, and structure, as well as fixing problems that could prevent search engine indexing programs from fully spidering a site. Other, more noticeable efforts may include adding unique content to a site, and making sure that the content is easily indexed by search engines and also appeals to human visitors.
DESIGN METHODOLOGY
Ideally Search Engine Optimization should be an integral objective of your web site design and implementation throughout its life cycle. Search Engine Process comprises with the following key phases:
Review Phase: If you already have a web site you need to know your current search engine visibility. Ideally you should also know something about the behavior of your site visitors - which search engines and search terms are attracting visitors, and to which of your web pages. If you are building an entirely new site visibility reports for your competitors can be very informative.
Analysis Phase: This will show you which search terms are most likely to yield the best visibility on which engines.
Optimization Phase: Choose a the set of search terms you wish to focus on in terms of your business objectives and allocate these to pages of your web site according their relevance. Then update the web pages themselves to emphasize this relevance. Finally publish your updated web site.
Submission Phase: Inform the search engines about your web site, its pages and the search terms for which you would like these to be listed.
The Analysis and Optimization phases should express your underlying business objectives for having a web presence; what is your market, what is your competition and niche, what customers are you hoping to attract and what products or services are you providing via the web? All these inform your design and with it the fine-tuning for clear representation to your customers and the Search Engines.
